Shot on 35mm, this photograph was captured timely as Cynthia’s Queen of the Night (Epiphyllum Oxypetalum) plant bloomed one summer evening on the 22nd of February, 2025.
Hence its name, the Queen of the Night blooms for only one night in a year. This nocturnal plant has been kept by Cynthia since CC was a child, when it blooms they’d sit beneath this plant on their porch taking in its fleeting beauty and intoxicating scent under a full moon.
昙花一现 (Tan hua yi xian) is a Chinese Cheng Yu (idiom), encapsulating the feeling behind Crystal’s next release, “Stop.”
Each print is signed, titled, and numbered by Crystal on the back and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
